Final School Post (But I will keep on posting)!

June 5th, 2008 by hammond

I can’t bear waiting any more school ours. My hands are as heavy as weights and I am sweating like a pig waiting for the last hours of school to go by. These hours go by like days and the seconds go by just like hours. There was only one thing that was making my mind go crazy. How insane was I going to go after the last second of school was over and I could hear the loud bell ringing like a flies wings and the sound they make meanwhile they beat rapidly up and down in split-seconds, faster and faster each time. This was eating my mind off like an infection. If you were a student, how insane would you go! I’m going to go crazy and am going to live life the fullest as much as possible! Taking breaks off of homework and being able to do basically anything I want and could enjoy life, chilling, or playing sports. Also, I might have an awesome time visiting my friends in Potomac Maryland, my favorite place on earth. I have been so anxious to do this, I am more anxious to do this than to graduate to college. This has been killing me for too long and is my one and only desire! I would want this more than a present for my birthday or anything else right now. Basically, it would be a dream come true which has been waiting a long time.

After that, I will be remembering the touching memories. After I looked back on them and realize it’s a pretty touching life story and I have had so much fun and touching moments this ear. I just don’t know what to say anymore after all the support from my friends and family. They have been there almost every time for me and have helped me like if they were my parents guiding me through life. I just don’t know what to say and how to thank them. I think that if could write a story and sell for millions if I could just teach the world what I have been taught by friends and family this year. All I can say is that this year has been one of my favorite memories and years that I have had and nothing else.

I have also loved my teachers this year which have guided me in many ways and have showed me the best time I have ever had! Chilling at math, writing in literature, filming movies at U.S. History. There is now way I can repay what I have gotten this year and I think that this is the only way that I can say thanks to all of that. How has this been so much fun, I don’t know but if you were me, you would not know how much of a time of your life you would have.

I just hope that all of you guys could know this and how it could eat you up. I hope you guys have the time of your life this summer and have never had so much fun like I did this year!

HAPPY SUMMER VACATIONS!!!!

Basketball Nightmare

May 29th, 2008 by hammond

On this past Wednesday, we had our finals in basketball. We were the only team who was undefeated in the league and were going to play the second best team (which we had beaten already and have been our rivalry for a couple of years). I can still remember that day at school. I was so nervous that I couldn’t ready in class and didn’t know what was going to happened next. When the bell rang, my feet started trembling like if there were an earthquake that was about to destroy us. Finally, we got dressed up for the game, and I could see the big crowd waiting for us at the stands. Usually, we run some lay-up drills which I could barely make because of how nervous I was. When the game began, I could feel the drops of sweat blobbing down my chin and drooping on the floor. The roar of the crowd was so loud I thought that I was at an amusement park next to a rollercoaster. I wasn’t on the starting line, but I got put in a couple of minutes after the game started. I was trying my hardest: setting screens, playing defense, and giving it my best running up and down the court. After I was in for a while, I sweating like if I had just gotten out of a pool and my nervousness began to go away. But, the only problem was that we were down by more than 12 points! We ran a full court press with all we could and had a huge come-back which caused us to lead by about 7 points! The team was really excited so we started doing dumb mistakes just like the other team, but we lost the ball way to many times leaving the other team very easy points. We were down by one and I was on the bench with a lot of other friends. All I could do was scream like a little boy who just fell off of a swing. The mighty roar of the crowd was getting louder every second. There was 4 seconds left and the ball went out and we only had 1 second let on the clock (but the other team was throwing the ball in). Our teammate DJ intercepted the ball and shot from almost half-court a split-second before we could hear the buzzer. Everyone looked at the ball in amusement. The ball hit the backboard, then hit the rim, but then fell out. We lost by one point and this was a major defeat. But, we still had a better season than them. We had 9 wins and 1 loss, they had 8 wins and 2 losses.

Geography Fair

May 26th, 2008 by hammond

Last Thursday, I entered the gymnasium where I could see hundreds of people running around with drops of sweat and could smell the wicked scent of curry at one of the stalls from Asia. I was at the Geography fair which is a fair that people in 7th grade must choose a country and participate in. I did this last year and I had Slovakia, which was very hard since I was the first person to have it in the schools history. I had to contact people from Slovakia and from the United States just to get items for my booth. After a while, my booth looked cool and professional. I didn’t want any part of my table and booth showing except for colors. Basically I loved my booth! When I came back this year, I started eating like I had never seen before. I could smell the sweet smell of burning scents on a table and could hear all of the commotion and footsteps of little kids running around and screaming. My heart was beating so hard my shirt was moving and I could feel the drops of sweat dropping down from my head meanwhile my stomach was aching from all the chicken and blueberry bread I had eaten. I felt like if I was about to explode and couldn’t walk anymore. I just felt like if I had to sit down. Afterwards, I went to go and chill at a friend’s booth. She looked pretty embarrassed since a lot of people were around asking her questions and I just sat down on her chair so we just laughed and had fun talking. Later on, I heard so much clapping it sounded like a concert. Yes, I know what this meant. It meant that the geography fair was over and I finally had to go home and study for a test I had to take the next day.

New Science Project

May 15th, 2008 by hammond

It was 100 degrees; blobs of sweat were drooping down my face like if I had just come out of a pool. I could taste the sour and salty sweat that was now raining off of my chin onto the cheap floor that can barely last a couple of more ears until it collapses. I am in science class like usual on Thursdays, Tuesdays, and Mondays. We usually do not challenge our minds that much and go over 2 chapters, take notes, and answer the bore some questions on the end of the section. We were supposed to have a lab on magnets about the north and south poles and the magnetic field. The ant sized dial and the 2 cm compass was moving toward the north and south poles of the weak ancient magnet. Since this wasn’t working out that well because of the weak and old magnets loosing their magnetism, our teacher told us that we were going to have a lab that was going to last for the rest of the year. Have you ever had finals, this is just like them, you are going to need to know all that you have studied to be able to pass your test, in this case, create the project. I thought that this was going to be a boring, dull, and torturous project that was going to be fatal toward our grade and our day. In my mind was thinking, oh no, not another science project like our last one. We had to create a Rube Goldberg machine with more than three different types of simple machines and make a volleyball knock down some plastic bowling pins. So, of course I thought it was going to be super hard, especially since it’s going to last the rest of the year. No, I am actually more excited than a kid buying a dog. Have you seen that, the kids are so excited that they start jumping up and down like monkeys on ropes with tourists around. So, I am very excited and am choosing one of the four options we have. I will post a part two after finishing the project and tell you what project I picked and how it came out and functioned!

School Trip to Manuel Antonio

May 11th, 2008 by hammond

During my school curriculum, we all have a fun trip that lasts a couple of days to chill off of the work and steam off grades for a while. This time, we went to a nice beach called Manuel Antonio. I had the most fun of my life during the many activities I had. First of all was the superman zip-line. This was awesome! It is a zip-line but instead of sitting down like usual, you lay down on a special suite that is attached to the line. The line was 1 kilometer long and you could get to speeds of 90 kilometers per hour! If you don’t think this is fun then wait until you hear what activity we after this, we went white water rafting! This was probably the best part of the trip (in my opinion). There were very fun rapids to go on and even though the water was cold I sat in the front with my friend Antonio and had a lot of fun being in the bravest and funnest seat of the raft. After this we ate some typical food and headed to the hotel by the beach. We went to the beach for a couple of hours and got an awesome game of tackle football going on. Later on, we got super tired and went back to the hotel to see who we were rooming with and finally went to sleep. The next morning was very tiring since we had to do community service for about 1 hour and a half (this was raking leaves at the national park Manuel Antonio) but after that we got to hang around the beach for a longer time and played some more football. Finally, we had to go back home. This was very sad since the weekend was just starting and we all wanted to have a lot of fun at the beach, but it was going to have to happen at one point in time.

Thanks for reading!

Down hilling at Whistler

May 2nd, 2008 by hammond

A couple of months ago I went to Blackcomb Whistler. It is a ski park and a bike park. Yeah, I went down hilling. This is a very intense sport, which my brother enjoys a lot so we gave it a try.  This was my first time and my brother had already mastered stuff about it since he practices this sport 24/7. So, we went on black diamond trails. MY sweat was dropping down my forehead meanwhile I was riding on a Kona Stinky with some nice 88’s. This is awesome suspension. I was riding a full suspension bike so on the intense jumps over gaps; the landing was not that hard. This was the most fun I have had. But, on a drop, a bailed and was very soar (it was a black diamond called Dirt Merchant). The only problem was that a very advanced down-hiller was coming down at about 65 miles per hour and almost crashed into me. I had a huge bruise for a while and my arms were to soar to keep on. But Mark and I kept going for a couple more days. At the end, I was thinking about how much of an opportunity this gave me and this moment inspired me to keep on riding. There were other things to do around the town of Whistler Canada. So we decided to walk around. If you guys have been to Florida than you would know what I meant after you walk for days because of visiting or shopping, this gets your legs pretty soar, especially after down hilling for days! So, if you guys want a heck of a work out and you are the type of person who likes extreme sports which you can get hurt on. This is an awesome place that is just right for you!  This is a video of some people with a headcam doing Dirt Merchant too.

Lake Tahoe

April 24th, 2008 by hammond

Lake Tahoe, pretty cool huh? I was in California and in Nevada at the same time. I went to Lake Tahoe last winter vacation and it isn’t the first time I have gone either. Obviously I went to go snowboarding like usual. I have been snowboarding since a long time ago so I am pretty good at it. I can go on double black diamond trails and love to go to trick parks where there are pipes, and rails. I haven’t done a rail but I have gone off jumps and can pop some tricks. My favorite trick to impress people going on ski lifts and having to wait the stressful boring time all the way up the mountain is the 360 tail grab. Even though it might seem complicated it is really not, I got it on a couple of tries. So anyways, I was hitting the park all the time with a nice 140 board and some nice Flow bindings. It was really cold and there was a huge snow storm which cause more than 15 feet of snow to fall. But, my foot was hurting so much I could barely resist since I did not tie my boots tight enough. My foot was bending when I would turn and would hurt a lot when I would have to “skate” with my board on a flat to get to another lift. This was because the mountain (I was at Heavenly) was more than 10,000 feet in elevation, so if you would want to get to the top, you would have to take multiple ski lifts. So, I had an awesome time enjoying my snowboarding practice and looking and laying down on the nice, fluffy, white, powdery, fresh, snow that had just fallen and popping tricks of ramps to impress people by seeing a kid like me doing big tricks. I had the time of my life and I recommend you to go to Heavenly too!

Feelings

April 17th, 2008 by hammond

Some days I fell very weird, don’t you? Well what causes this to happen are our feelings. Yes we all have these and we all have different reactions to them. Today I felt like throwing up and had a huge headache. Well I came to a conclusion that the thing that was affecting me was my feelings. I came to this conclusion since I was worried and was dehydrated and was using my head way too much. This was because I had a lot of stuff to do in very little time. So I became worried and got a huge headache by thinking about what I should do about it.

I also found out that you have feeling s all the time and these are what make you have bad days, good days, lazy days, exhausted days etc.. So I tried to control this but it is impossible because they are automatic reactions to stuff that happens to you during the day. For example, if you get burned or you get a fast harmful pain to your heart you are probably going to say ouch! Yes this is an automatic reaction. So if you get insulted at school, I am guessing your automatic reaction will be having a bad day and feeling very angry and sad.

So since you can’t control them, I tried to not feel the reactions to it but found out that its like controlling your life thoughts and body. This is physically impossible. Finally, I learned that without feelings there is no point in life. If you don’t feel loved and don’t feel happy, why have a life, I don’t think you would want to live like this. As you can see, even though you’re having a bad day, don’t give up on yourself. These are your automatic feeling s which can’t be controlled and are going to happen once in a while. Odds are, after you get through your bad feelings, you’ll probably feel really relieved and happier than ever.

How to Survive Spanish Class and Not Fail

April 10th, 2008 by hammond

The time is just ticking away meanwhile you are looking at the clock going slower than ever seen before. Your hands are sweaty from the hard sunlight penetrating through the windows meanwhile no fans can be turned on. You don’t understand anything that is going on. This is Spanish class in my school. The most hectic class (like I had explained in my last post), where one gets humiliated by the teacher on purpose in front of the whole class and where quizzes and pop quizzes are given to you at any moment and the average of students fail since it is impossible to understand what they are teaching you. Yes, I am one of many students who fail the quizzes once in a while and half to get my parents to sign them so I won’t get points taken off of my grade.

I am not sure if my teacher does this on purpose just to get us and our parents angry or if she doesn’t do it on purpose and this is all just a “big coincidence”. I highly doubt this because I (as well as many other students) have gone through this torture and have to give my best effort in class even though everyone barely passes. For example, other people as well as I, can study for hours and barely pass with a D-. So, I am here to help you survive this class.

First of all, since most of the time the class isn’t based on Spanish since our teacher brings up random stuff to talk about, only listen to what has to do with Spanish since if you listen the random stuff that doesn’t have to do with the class (even though we talk about this almost 90% of our class time) it confuses you very badly. Second of all, ask a lot of questions until you get the material you are studying clear. After that, don’t really study since you know that you’ll probably get a worse grade after you study than if you don’t or you just guess everything. I mean, you might want to go over stuff to know what the quiz or test is going to be on. Next, get easy grades high like easy quizzes, homework grades and other easy stuff up so you won’t fail. Finally, meanwhile you are doing an assessment, try to remember the stuff that you listened to in class and give it your best shot. I hope this will help you lots like it helps me pass the class with almost an 80!

Grumpiness over Spanish Class

April 3rd, 2008 by hammond

Yesterday at school was pretty harsh and hectic. This is usually on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I realized that it was hectic these days because of one certain class, yes Spanish class. First of all, I found this out because I analyzed all of my ideas. I came up with the days that I would wake up grumpy and not that happy as usual (this was Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). So I knew something in the ordinary was not right or just bugged me out. I knew that it was about school since it was only on the days I had school on. So, I made a list of all of my classes that day (Math, Literature, and Spanish). After finding this out I went even deeper into thought and I actually sat in class and did different tests.

Test 1- What classes was I most productive in and felt the shortest since I was doing something productive in and not realizing the time left or time it was taking? (Answer – Literature and Math)

Test 2- What class felt the longest for me? (Answer – Spanish)

Test 3- What class did I hate most? (Answer – Spanish)

In Spanish class most of the people never really understand what’s going on since it’s so complicated and our teacher is always grumpy and has TEACHER PETS! Yes, most people (including me) are not such a big Teacher Pet fan. So, since no one is doing anything productive and watching time just tick by so slowly in Spanish class, I realized that my grumpiness problem was because of knowing that I had Spanish class that day. But, I am still a little grumpy at night every other day that’s not Friday after school or Saturday knowing that I have Spanish the next day. It’s like Sundays, just knowing you have school tomorrow but I have double the pain on Sundays, I have school and Spanish the next day! So, I am finally getting over my grumpiness but I always have my up’s and down’s if you know what I mean.
