How to Survive Spanish Class and Not Fail

April 10th, 2008 by hammond

The time is just ticking away meanwhile you are looking at the clock going slower than ever seen before. Your hands are sweaty from the hard sunlight penetrating through the windows meanwhile no fans can be turned on. You don’t understand anything that is going on. This is Spanish class in my school. The most hectic class (like I had explained in my last post), where one gets humiliated by the teacher on purpose in front of the whole class and where quizzes and pop quizzes are given to you at any moment and the average of students fail since it is impossible to understand what they are teaching you. Yes, I am one of many students who fail the quizzes once in a while and half to get my parents to sign them so I won’t get points taken off of my grade.

I am not sure if my teacher does this on purpose just to get us and our parents angry or if she doesn’t do it on purpose and this is all just a “big coincidence”. I highly doubt this because I (as well as many other students) have gone through this torture and have to give my best effort in class even though everyone barely passes. For example, other people as well as I, can study for hours and barely pass with a D-. So, I am here to help you survive this class.

First of all, since most of the time the class isn’t based on Spanish since our teacher brings up random stuff to talk about, only listen to what has to do with Spanish since if you listen the random stuff that doesn’t have to do with the class (even though we talk about this almost 90% of our class time) it confuses you very badly. Second of all, ask a lot of questions until you get the material you are studying clear. After that, don’t really study since you know that you’ll probably get a worse grade after you study than if you don’t or you just guess everything. I mean, you might want to go over stuff to know what the quiz or test is going to be on. Next, get easy grades high like easy quizzes, homework grades and other easy stuff up so you won’t fail. Finally, meanwhile you are doing an assessment, try to remember the stuff that you listened to in class and give it your best shot. I hope this will help you lots like it helps me pass the class with almost an 80!
